For Warriors' Cohan, there's room to get worse
The Warriors called a news conference Tuesday to make a major announcement: They are damn upset that Chris Cohan is only the league's fourth-worst owner, and they're going to do something about it starting NOW!

As Bobby Rowell tried to pass off Larry Riley as the general manager and sell a line of bull that Bobby and Nellie aren't running the franchise back into the ground from which it had emerged (like a groundhog) for a brief spell in the spring of 2007, Sports Illustrated's Web site posted a list of the five best and worst owners in the four major sports leagues. Coming in at No. 4 among the NBA's worst was Cohan.

It's going to take a lot to break into the top three the Clippers' Donald Sterling is No. 1, followed by the Knicks' James Dolan and the Grizzlies' Michael Heisley. But have faith, Warriors fans. We Believe. For one thing, with a purchase price of $130 million and a value of $335 million, Cohan has no reason to think there's even a problem.

"We've set an environment in our organization with the tools and resources to be successful," Bobby said.

They do have a lot of tools in the front office. He's right about that.

Before the event, the Warriors announced that the formal press conference would be the only setting for questions and that there would be no one-on-one interviews afterward. Except on KNBR with Warriors TV jingoist Bob Fitzgerald, of course.

On SI.com 's list, the only Bay Area team that showed up among the bests was the Sharks' ownership, at No. 4 in the NHL. (Editor's note: Rankings compiled during regular season.)

The Raiders' Al Davis was No. 1 on the NFL's bad list, which is hardly a surprise because all those haters in the media don't see the genius of the trap Al has been laying on the rest of the league by collecting all those high draft picks for six years. At No. 5 were the 49ers, represented by Denise DeBartolo York. From Santa Clara, the call went out: But Mom, you said I get to be in the pictures!
