--Responding to an Internet report that he's close to being traded, Stephen Jackson before the game told the Oakland Tribune: "I'm anxious to see how this year is going to pan out for me." Jackson was booed big-time by the Oracle Arena sellout crowd of 10,596 in his pregame introduction, then also half-heartedly the first few times he touched the ball. He didn't respond with one of his better efforts, missing nine of 16 shots and recording only four rebounds and no steals. Warriors coach Don Nelson also addressed the report of Jackson's pending trade, saying of his preseason issues with his former captain: "I think we've worked that out now."
--Wednesday's loss to Houston was the Warriors' third in a row at home on opening night. They fell to Utah two seasons ago and New Orleans last year.
--The Warriors have lost seven in a row to the Rockets.
--The Warriors seemed to have everything going for them entering the game. Not only had the Rockets opened at Portland on Tuesday night (while Golden State did not play), but the visitors had to take a boat from San Francisco to Oakland about 3-1/2 hours before gametime because the San Francisco Bay Bridge was closed in the aftermath of a fallen cable the night before.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't want to get specific or call names, but we made a bunch of turnovers. We also didn't find the open man and made defensive errors." -- Warriors coach Don Nelson, explaining how a 10-point halftime lead turned into as many as a nine-point deficit in the third quarter of Wednesday's 108-107 season-opening loss to the Rockets.
