--Baron Davis, who opted out of a $17.8 million salary in the final year of his Warriors deal, got a five-year, $65 million handshake from the Clippers. The Warriors were unwilling to guarantee their oft-injured star more than three years.
--Corey Maggette received a five-year, $50 million deal. Coincidentally, he will wear No. 50 as a Warrior. --Mickael Pietrus, who was unable to leave the club as a restricted free agent last summer, took advantage of his unrestricted status this time around to get to Orlando. He got three years and about $14 million.
--The Warriors' hopes of snatching Ronny Turiaf from the Lakers revolved around Los Angeles being on precariously close to the luxury-tax number. Matching Golden State's offer of $17 million over four years would cause the Lakers to do some roster shuffling to avoid getting hit immediately with the NBA tax.
--The Warriors sent three 2007-08 veterans -- Brandan Wright, Marco Belinelli and C.J. Watson -- along with draft picks Anthony Randolph and Richard Hendrix to anchor their summer-league team in Las Vegas. Keith Smart, who is the likely choice to replace Don Nelson when the league's second-winningest coach retires after next season, was assigned to coach the squad in its five-game slate.
