Golden State Warriors Roster Report 2008-11-01

Golden State Warriors Roster Report 2008-11-01
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard DeMarcus Nelson, Shooting guard Stephen Jackson, Small forward Corey Maggette, Power forward Al Harrington, Center Andris Biedrins. Bench -- Guard C.J. Watson, Guard-Forward Kelenna Azubuike, Forward Brandan Wright, Center Ronny Turiaf.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Stephen Jackson has come out firing from beyond the three-point line in the Warriors' first two games. He's gone 5-for-12 and 4-for-9 from behind the arc, a 42.9 percentage that's better than his two-point accuracy (7-for-19, 36.8 percent).

--C Andris Biedrins is 2-for-2 in double-doubles. His 17-point, 12-rebound effort at Toronto followed a 14-point, 12-rebound outing in the opener. The difference in Game 2: He had only two fouls in 42 minutes after having fouled out in 29 minutes against New Orleans.

--F Corey Maggette got to the line nine times (making six) in Game 2 after having made 10 visits (making nine) in the opener. Maggette attempted to draw a foul on a drive into the lane in the final seconds of regulation Friday, but stepped on an opponent's foot as he was drawing a bit of contact, slipped and missed badly on a potential game-winning shot.

--G DeMarcus Nelson earned the opening-night start in Monta Ellis' absence -- the first non-drafted rookie to earn that distinction since the franchise moved West in 1962 -- and made it two in a row Friday in Toronto. And while much was made of the four-headed competition for the starting spot in training camp, it was much ado about nothing. Nelson played only 11 minutes against the Raptors and now has a total of just eight points and three assists in his first two games.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G Monta Ellis (ankle) is likely to miss the first two months of the season after surgery required to repair the damage suffered in a moped accident. The Warriors have suspended Ellis for the first 26 games (through Dec. 17) of the regular season for having violated terms of his contract.
