ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Stephen Jackson, Shooting guard
Anthony Morrow, Small forward Kelenna Azubuike, Power forward Corey Maggette, Center Andris Biedrins. Bench -- Guard C.J. Watson, Guard
Marco Belinelli, Forward Brandan Wright, Center Ronny Turiaf.
PLAYER NOTES:
--C Andris Biedrins came within one rebound of an 11th consecutive
double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds, thus ending his
17-game run of double-doubles dating back to last season. The 17-game
streak was the NBA's longest since Kevin Garnett accomplished the feat
37 consecutive times during the 2006 season.
--G Stephen Jackson might have started the game at point guard,
but he played a majority of his minutes defensively at power forward
and was the man most responsible for LaMarcus Aldridge's nightmarish
night. Despite a huge height and power advantage over Jackson,
Aldridge missed five of his seven shots and fouled out in 20 minutes,
scoring just four points. Jackson took advantage of Aldridge's fouls
to go 10-for-10 from the free-throw line, account for half his 20
points.
--G Anthony Morrow followed up a 37-point explosion against the
Clippers on Saturday with 25 against the Trail Blazers, becoming the
first Warriors rookie since Marc Jackson in December of 2000 to record
back-to-back games of 25 or more. Morrow connected on four of his five
three-point attempts and now leads the league in three-point shooting
percentage (11 of 17, 64.7 percent).
--G C.J. Watson has lost his starting spot to G Anthony Morrow,
but that hasn't stopped the point guard from being productive. He had
10 points, five rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes of the bench.
He has scored 10 or more points in three consecutive games.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--G Monta Ellis (ankle) is walking around without a noticeable
limp, yet he is likely to miss the first two months of the season
following surgery required to repair the damage suffered in a moped
accident. The Warriors have suspended Ellis for the first 26 games
(through Dec. 17) of the regular season for having violated terms of
his contract.
--F Al Harrington (back), seeing his effectiveness (and minutes)
shrink after a solid start to the season, claims his back is bothering
him and just might sit out until the Warriors either trade him (as he
desires) or announce they cannot find a trade partner (which is more
likely). He has missed six games in a row, with no indication he's
going to return anytime this month.
