Golden State Warriors sign 6-11 Chris Hunter out of development league

Golden State Warriors sign 6-11 Chris Hunter out of development league NBDL player signed on an emergency basis

With a plethora of injuries, the Warriors again dipped into the NBA Development League to sign 6-foot-11 forward/center Chris Hunter, who played two exhibition games with the New York Knicks this season.

Despite having the maximum 15 players under contract, the Warriors were able to sign Hunter from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants because of the NBA's hardship rules, which allows teams to sign someone if it has 15 players on the Active and Inactive lists but is unable to dress the league minimum of eight players.

In 47 games for Fort Wayne this season and last, Hunter averaged 19.3 points and 9.4 rebounds in under 33 minutes a game. Hunter's stay may be short, though, as guard C.J. Watson (H1N1 virus) will presumably return to the team next week or in early December.

A Warriors spokesman said guard Raja Bell will see a specialist in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday as part of the process before he elects to have surgery on his left wrist. The team also announced that center Andris Biedrins (lower back strain) will be re-evaluated Monday, 15 days after his last game against Sacramento.

Forward Brandan Wright said the rehabilitation on his surgically repaired left shoulder is ongoing, but that there was no timetable as to when he'll resume any Basketball-related activities. He'll be able to get his left arm out of a sling next week, though. ... Forward Devean George (sore left knee) also said there's no timetable for his return to practice but feels he is close to doing some team-related activities.
