The Suns faced the Denver Nuggets at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden last October and lost 77-72 before a sellout crowd of 16,000.

"It was an amazing experience to play an NBA game outdoors," Phoenix guard Steve Nash said. "We all grew up playing basketball outdoors and we don't get to do it very often any more.

"It's a lot of fun for all of us."

A year ago, wind had a big impact on shooting, with the teams combining to go 3-of-27 from 3-point range.

Nash said afterward, "If you shoot a ball and it starts slicing right, well ... But that's not really the point of the game, to shoot a high percentage. The point was to come out here and see what it is like to go up and down outside and put NBA players in this situation."

The Suns also played outdoors, on Sept. 24, 1972, when Connie Hawkins, Dick Van Arsdale and Neal Walk led Phoenix to a 116-103 preseason win over Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson and the Milwaukee Bucks at a baseball stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
