Bill Walker had already cleaned out his locker and taken down his nameplate.
The Kansas State freshman was as good as gone. Now Walker and his family are in the process of deciding whether he should remain in the NBA Draft after suffering a knee injury this past weekend in a mass workout at the Golden State Warriors facility.
Kansas State coach Frank Martin said he still hadn't spoken to Walker as of Monday around 12 p.m. ET.
However, one source close to the situation said that the injury is not serious and is a "small tear on the right side of his left knee."
"He can run, but he just can't go left to right," said the source. "It's not an ACL or an MCL injury. He'll have minor surgery in a couple days and be ready in three weeks."
"Right now the family is deliberating about what to do," he added.
The source said that the injury is a partially torn meniscus in his left knee. Walker injured the same knee in high school and also suffered a torn ACL in his right knee early in an abbreviated freshman campaign at Kansas State.
"If it's true, it would be unfortunate," Martin said, "We knew Bill was going to take as much time as possible to make an intelligent decision."
One source indicated that Walker was set to sign with the same agent as his childhood friend and teammate, O.J. Mayo, who inked with Leon Rose after cutting ties with Bill Duffy.
However, Walker was injured participating in a workout at the Warriors facility in which more than 20 players showcased themselves in front of more than 15 NBA teams.
Walker, who passed on the opportunity to play in the Orlando Pre-Draft Camp, has only had a couple of workouts for individual teams.
