The trade was announced on Thursday.
The Warriors, who drafted Davidson star Stephen Curry last month and have Monta Ellis slated as their point guard, like George's versatility to play more than one spot in coach Don Nelson's up-tempo offense.
The 31-year-old George, a 10-year NBA veteran who has played the last three seasons with the Mavericks, averaged 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 16.5 minutes for Dallas last season.
